Ben Zanders, the conductor of the Boston Philharmonic, led an audience of 1000 at a conference where he spoke, to sing “happy birthday to you” for one of the participants. Afterwards he said, “If you want to put in your resume that you sang under the conductor of the Boston Philharmonic, that’s OK.”
Arturo Toscanini shouted at a cellist who had played a wrong note, “You are fired!” As he packed up his instrument for the last time and left, he turned around at the door and mumbled, “Son of a bitch!” Toscanini shouted, “It’s too late to apologize!”
