Why Nonkiling?

Glenn Paige – TRANSCEND Media Service

In the context of current concern for killing in America and abroad, please see encouraging evidence for “nonkilling” potential change in free online knowledge resources at www.nonkilling.org.

Why “nonkilling” rather than peace, nonviolence, conflict resolution, or any other desirable human condition? Because nonkilling is the alpha and omega of life. From birth to natural death no human endeavor can be pursued if we are killed.

The mission of the Center for Global Nonkilling is: “To promote change toward the measurable goal of a killing-free world by means open to infinite creativity in reverence for life.”

This requires drawing upon, advancing, and combining the Spiritual, Scientific, Skill, and Arts capabilities of humankind for change.

  1. “To promote change toward the measurable goal of a killing-free world by means open to infinite creativity in reverence for life.” Wonderful words, Glenn Page!!!! However, apart from beautiful words and thoughts, we have to look at what reality shows us and “infinite creativity” is also used by inventors of bombs and torture instruments, designers of new air-fighters, warships and drones. Even the Captain of a Batallion shows “infinite creativity” when planning his attacks, his kiilings.

If you look at riot scenes on TV, the movements of the riot Police are as creative as those of a ballet choreographer and his dancers. In fact riot Police rehearse their “planned” riot “performances” almost as much as dancers prepare for a performance of Nutcracker.

With regards to “reverence for life”, these “artists” of the Death Industry have great reverence for life: their own and their loved ones. Bomb manufacturers, traders and war organisers, don’t send their children, brothers, etc, to war, let alone go themselves. This means they know VERY WELL the value of life and how to revere it.

Only, I repeat it louder, ONLY, a total, universal abolition of weapons, conventional and nuclear, military vehicles, etc. can change the world. At the moment the British Government is spending a fortune developing new air-fighters. By not campaigning against these air-fighters, we must accept the Government’s current recruitment campaign to attract young men and women to the Royal Air Force.

We must seek a Universal Abolition of Militarism.

  2. Universal abolition of militarism should be our intended goal. The nonkilling paradigm is part of this human development process towards a culture of peace. I applaud all efforts towards this major step in our civilization. We need to break away from the slavery of militarism and war, just as we did with human slavery over a century ago.

Aloha Albeto Portugheis! Thank you for sharing your response to “Why Nonkilling?” Let’s ask ourselves a couple of questions. Is fear and belief that nonkilling security and nonkilling societies are impossible reasons why nuclear weapons, armaments, and
local to world militarization exist? If so, is it more realistic to seek security, disarmament and peace by continued killing to reduce fear or to encourage discovery of scientific and practical grounds to promote change toward nonkilling security and nonkilling societies? A reference to consider is the U.S. DOD Joint Non-Lethal Weapons Program (www.jnlwp@defense.gov). Consider also nonkilling interdisciplinary discoveries being made freely available at http://www.nonkilling.org.
