El mayor hallazgo del Gobierno turco este año ocurrió mientras removían tierra en la región de Anatolia Central con el fin de edificar nuevas viviendas.
La Administración para el Desarrollo Habitacional de Turquía (TOKI) realizó el mayor descubrimiento arqueológico del país este año, una ciudad subterránea de 500 mil años de antigüedad en la región turca de Anatolia Central.
Específicamente, la ciudad antigua fue localizada en la provincia de Nevsehir de Anatolia Central, cuando la TOKI realizaba movimientos de tierra para la construcción de nuevas viviendas, indicó el diario Daily News.
El director de la instancia, Mehmet Ergun Turan, dijo que el hallazgo tiene mucho valor arqueológico, por lo que será protegida por las autoridades.
“No es una ciudad subterránea conocida”, afirmó Tural, tras añadir que las labores de remoción de tierra para la obra de construcción será paralizada.
La ciudad se extiende por más de 75 hectáreas y expertos calculan que tiene 5 mil años de antigüedad. Durante el descubrimiento los especialistas identificaron edificaciones residenciales, entre otros objetos e iglesias.
