When relations between the Soviet Union and China soured in the early 1960s, Khrushchev met Zhou En Lai and told him,
“No wonder we are growing apart, because I am the son of working class parents and you are the son of a Mandarin.”
Zhou En Lai replied, “But we have something in common: we are both traitors of our class.”
