Agony of No Return

Preeti Tej Singh – TRANSCEND Media Service

strike me down
with a blow
pull me down
to shreds
for i hate to see
that which was
that which cannot
be again
the ghost of memories
rises like poison gas
it rises
and my nostrils flare
for the spirit is raging
in stomping fury
why cannot
i go back
to a point of time
live a moment again
why cannot i
come down those
stairs again
why cannot i walk out
to meet you again
why cannot you
clasp my hand
and my face glow
just the same
oh the misfortune
of coming this far
the agony of no return
once you have
lived a day
it’s gone
you cannot touch
it again
