13 jul 2019 – O célebre tenista sérvio Novak Djokovic, número 1 do ranking mundial, disse esta semana que está se recuperando melhor desde que parou de se alimentar de animais há alguns anos.

“Tenho uma alimentação à base de plantas. Acho que esta é uma das razões pelas quais me recupero bem. Não tenho mais as alergias que eu costumava ter. Gosto disso”, declarou em publicação da AOL veiculada ontem.

O atleta tem sido apontado como responsável pelo crescimento do número de restaurantes veganos em Belgrado e em outras regiões da Sérvia.

“É sobre como essa dieta [com alimentos de origem animal] afeta o mundo, não apenas a saúde pessoal, mas também a sustentabilidade, a ecologia, os animais. É com isso que me importo, por isso tenho o privilégio de fazer parte desse time”, justificou.

A declaração acima foi feita em relação à sua participação na produção do documentário “The Game Changers”, que surgiu com a missão de provar que atletas não precisam consumir alimentos de origem animal.

O filme tem direção de Louie Psihoyos, que venceu o Oscar em 2009 com o filme “The Cove”, e produção do cineasta vegano James Cameron, que produziu e dirigiu filmes como “O Exterminador do Futuro”, “Titanic” e “Avatar”.
