O ator vegano foi preso na última sexta-feira (10 jan) logo após discursar em protesto contra as mudanças climáticas.

 12 jan 2020 – O ator vegano Joaquin Phoenix, que recentemente recebeu o prêmio de Melhor Ator no 77º Globo de Ouro por sua interpetração em “Coringa”, foi preso na última sexta-feira (10) logo após discursar em protesto em Washington DC contra as mudanças climáticas.

Durante o Fire Drill Fridays, idealizado pela atriz Jane Fonda e inspirado no Fridays for Future, criado pela ativista vegana sueca Greta Thunberg, Phoenix destacou que a crise do clima está conectada à agropecuária.

A sua participação foi considerada bem controversa porque em eventos voltados às mudanças climáticas, muitas vezes os protestos não levam a discussão para essa direção, até porque há muitas pessoas que se dizem engajadas na causa que se alimentam de animais, e talvez, por não querer mudar seus hábitos, prefiram não abordar esse fato.

Phoenix, que já foi solto pela polícia, lembrou que a produção de alimentos de origem animal como carnes e laticínios é a terceira principal causa das mudanças climáticas.

“Acho que às vezes nos perguntamos o que podemos fazer nessa luta contra as mudanças climáticas. E há algo que você pode fazer hoje, agora e amanhã, escolhendo o que consome”, defendeu e acrescentou que abdicar de carnes e laticínios é uma forma de fazer a diferença.

“Então, eu só quero pedir a todos que se juntem a mim”, acrescentou. O ator Martin Sheen também foi preso durante a manifestação e mais tarde liberado.
