Child’s Gaze
POETRY FORMAT, 4 Oct 2021
Dr. Ravi P. Bhatia – TRANSCEND Media Service
The child is gazing at us
Looking for help from us
Is he feeling hungry
Does he want some food
Let us offer him a banana
He shakes his head
A toy perhaps or a paintbox
Quite likely,
So he is offered an old toy gun
He again looks at us sadly
What else could be done
Let us try to hold his hand
He offers his hand gladly
And then he clings to me
Why did I not understand
He is lonely, sad, puzzled
Give him a drink, food, toys
But first hold him like your own child
