I don’t hear the birds singing
Except the whine
Of the drones
And the missiles
Coming at us in fury

A garland of fire
A skeletal remains
Of our abode
Vanishing dreams
And we have
Nowhere to go

I have lost my parents
Devoured by the flames
My brothers and sisters
And all my friends too
Shattering my dreams
Of better days to come

I keep on asking
Why am I spared
But I know
I have to emerge
From the ashes
To forgive
But not to forget
For I am
Just a child from Gaza
