Princess Odette and her companions have been turned into swans by the evil magician Baron von Rothbart. At night they change back to human form. Prince Siegfried meets Odette at the Lake and is captivated by her. She explains he must swear his undying love to break the spell. He is tricked by the Baron and the spell is now permanent. In the final act they decide to die together. The last minute is precious.
