At the Funeral

Phoebe Anne Thomas Sorgen – TRANSCEND Media Service

Viewing his serene face prior to his open casket funeral, three TRANSCEND  members chatted softly, sharing fond memories of their beloved Dietrich Fischer.

Ingrid Kepler May mused, “I wonder what mourners will say about me as they view my corpse. I hope they’ll remember me as a skilled mediator who helped many people.”

Phoebe added, “I hope to have made a big impact on THE issue of our era, wresting democracy from corporate rule which is running and ruining our world.  Will mourners recall that, as a Peace and Justice Commissioner, I wrote the Resolutions that made Berkeley the 1st city to challenge corporate personhood and, years later, the first to oppose Citizens United v FEC?  Other cities followed. State legislatures passed similar measures.  By 2019, there’ll be over 65 co-sponsors in the US Congress for Move to Amend‘s We the People Amendment . Forgive my horn-tooting.”

Marilyn, what would you like admirers to say as they see you lying in state? Marilyn Langlois reflected, “Mmmm.  I hope they’ll say, ‘Look!  She’s moving!'”
