New footage appearing to support war crimes allegations against the Sri Lankan government has emerged.
A documentary broadcast in Britain by Channel 4 has shown previously unseen material from the end of the country’s civil war in 2009.
It claims to show evidence of systematic murder, abuse and sexual violence against the Tamil minority – by the Sri Lankan army.
Charles Stratford reports, and Callum MacRae, director of the documentary, tells Al Jazeera why he believes the film is so important.
WARNING: Some viewers may find some of the scenes disturbing.
