(Português) MapBiomas revela que 95% do desmatamento no Brasil é ilegal

 10  jun 2019 – O MapBiomas Alerta, sistema de validação e refinamento de alertas de desmatamento, degradação e regeneração de vegetação nativa com imagens de alta resolução, foi lançado no Brasil no último dia 7 e chamou a atenção por dados reveladores sobre o desflorestamento no país.

Segundo o coordenador geral do MapBiomas, Tasso Azevedo, a partir de dados obtidos pelo sistema já foi possível detectar no Brasil uma área desmatada de 89.741 hectares, o que equivale a duas vezes e meia o tamanho de Belo Horizonte. Do total, 95% aconteceu ilegalmente. Segundo Azevedo, somente 27 dos 4,5 mil alertas recebidos ocorreram em áreas autorizadas.

Embora o trabalho do Projeto de Mapeamento Anual da Cobertura e Uso do Solo do Brasil (MapBiomas) já seja bem conhecido e sirva de referência para organizações e pesquisadores que buscam dados sobre os biomas brasileiros, a atual versão é dedicada exclusivamente ao tema de desmatamento e se expandirá para os demais temas ao longo dos próximos dois anos.

O objetivo maior do MapBiomas Alerta é fornecer de forma rápida, laudos digitalizados para subsidiar os órgãos de fiscalização no combate ao desmatamento ilegal. Os dados são disponibilizados de forma pública e gratuita na internet e podem ser customizados pelos usuários.
