Fredsforsker Johan Galtung sammenlikner Norges rolle i Afghanistan og Breiviks massedrap.

(Dagbladet): Professor og fredsforsker Johan Galtung (80) ble i dag tildelt Erik Byes minnepris.

Takketalen benyttet han blant annet til en oppsiktsvekkende sammenlikning av norske soldaters oppdrag i Afghanistan og terrorhandlingene utført av Anders Behring Brevik.

– Dreper med kaldt blod

– Norge er i den veldig vanskelige rolle ved på den ene side å være offer og på den andre side være gjerningsmann. At norske snikskyttere med kaldt blod dreper det de kaller Taliban – akkurat som en annen person med koldt blod drepte AUFere, og var like ved å drepe mitt eget barnebarn som lå bak en stein da han var på fremsiden og skjøt hennes venner og venninner, sier Galtung ifølge NRK.

Fra vold til mekling

Nå håper han Breiviks massedrap kan få norske styresmakter til å endre syn på sin rolle i Afghanistan. Han mener det er på tide å ta lærdom.

– Hvis Norge kunne si at vi har lært noe om vold. (At) Vi går over fra vold til megling i Afghanistan — da vil vi være på riktig vei. Den sjansen bør vi gripe. Vi bør lære av det som har skjedd og også rette søkelyset mot oss selv, sier Galtung.

Nær venn

Galtung var en nærvenn av Erik Bye. Hva vennen ville sagt om en slik parallel som Galtung her trekker, får vi aldri vite.

Galtung ble tildelt prisen for å ha gått i mot strømmen og moteriktige standpunkt, og for kompromissløss kamp for rettferdighet, fred og menneskeverd.
