(Portuguese) Ratos Alimentados Com Transgênico Morrem Mais Cedo e Sofrem Mais de Câncer

Macho que recebeu milho geneticamente modificado morreu um ano antes do rato que não teve na alimentação transgênico. O estudo foi publicado nesta quarta-feira (19 Set 2012) pela revista científica “Food and Chemical Toxicology”.

Pesquisa realizada com 200 ratos alimentados com milho geneticamente modificado apontou que esses animais morrem mais cedo e sofrem de câncer com mais freqüência. O estudo foi publicado nesta quarta-feira (19) pela revista científica “Food and Chemical Toxicology”.

Os camundongos, durante um prazo máximo de dois anos, receberam três tipos de distintos de comida: apenas com milho OGM NK603, com milho OGM NK603 tratado com Roundup – o herbicida mais utilizado do mundo – e com milho não alterado geneticamente, mas também tratado com Roundup.

Os resultados revelaram índice de mortalidade bem mais alto para aqueles animais que foram alimentados com as duas primeiras maneiras, que possuíam como base o milho transgênico. O primeiro rato macho que recebeu milho geneticamente modificado morreu um ano antes do rato que não teve na alimentação transgênico. A primeira fêmea morreu oito meses mais cedo.

A pesquisa também chama atenção pelos casos de câncer mais freqüentes. Os ratos machos alimentados com transgênicos apresentaram tumores até 600 dias antes do que os ratos que não receberam esse tipo de alimento. Nas fêmeas, a média foi de 94 dias.

O milho NK603 e o herbicida são propriedade da multinacional estadunidense Monsanto. Os transgênicos são alimentos geneticamente modificados, que tiveram genes de outros seres vivos inseridos em seu código genético.
