25 Mar 2023 – Poem written about the severe energy crisis/ load shedding in South Africa. Sadly, for hours we are seeped into darkness.
Can this world be a home?
A place for the lost.?
Sadly there’s a fight for power
At any cost.
It’s a savage tool
It’s heartless and appalling
Reveries of revenge and an obsession to rule.
Sad attempts to lionise and romanticise.
So much of politics, propaganda and no perception
Only lies, manipulation and deception.
Is it a testing of moral tolerance ?
Or is someone fanning the flames of extremes?
We see through your misguided arrogance.
Has ominous echoes of inciting violence and pain
Our beautiful land cannot burn again.
Look around and see the strife…
Corruption, chaos, catastrophe is so rife.
Politicians and presidents fight for power
Humans just want light and no more darkness.
How do we keep the lights on?
The jaws and claws of darkness creates fear
There’s no power here…
It’s deep fear
The government has made it clear.
When will there be brightness???
Perhaps in the distant future.
Till then.
It’s just a pretty picture.
