Tom Greening – TRANSCEND Media Service

There she lies at midday in the square
as if resting from her errands,
shopping bag in hand, wool gloves, sturdy shoes,
a rather new-looking green winter coat,
oblivious to the political turmoil,
the rhetoric, the need for ethnic cleansing,
liberated from cleaning, cooking, washing
by a 14-year-old sniper.
