Dr. Surya Nath Prasad – TRANSCEND Media Service

26 Apr 2024 – I wish all the book lovers and readers of all over the world a very Happy UN World Book-Day.

There is a slogan, “Reading of the books is to be saved.” No doubt, reading the great books has changed the lives of the people. The reading of the boos has brought great revolutions world around in the history. But the ideas and thoughts contained in the books are of the great thinkers of the past and the present. These are not of the readers. However, these are keys or stimulus to unfold the treasure of knowledge and thoughts within the readers, because they have their own ideas. Lord Buddha once advised to his disciples saying, “Accept not because it is written in a great book, accept not because it is said by the great man, accept not because Buddha himself tells you, but accept when your conscience allows you to accept it.”

I have read a lot of books in the field of education and allied disciplines, and since 1970 I am concentrated in the field of peace education, and I founded Peace Education: An International Journal in 1975 for free distribution worldwide. I am still active in reading the new books of my choice even at the age of 82 years. Not only I read the books, but I have written and I am writing the books also. I wish to share with the readers of the books on this auspicious occasion of UN World Book Day with my own writings to enlighten them, so that they may also be motivated.

I wrote my article on the theme: Books on Peace Education published in the University News – A Journal of Association of Indian Universities on February 12, 1996. In this article, I have reviewed some of the books, which I read. Though these are not directly written on Peace Education, but I considered them they can be the best books on peace education. Here it is pertinent to mention that in 2013, there was A Dialogue between me and the Anchor of UCN News Channel on the theme: Man-Making Universal Peace education. Its website link is:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LS10fxIuvik to view and watch.

Now I shall not cite the description of my books more, however, I am giving the pictures of cover page of some of my books which I have written and edited to make the familiar to the readers of the books.
