At New Zealand’s parliament, a vote on a controversial bill was suspended by a haka (Māori war dance) led by MP Hana-Rawhiti Maipi-Clarke from the Te Pāti Māori party, joined by opposition parties and the public gallery. The bill proposed changes to a 200-year-old treaty guaranteeing Māori rights.
