Jan 2025 – In his master-piece, 1984, George Orwell amazingly predicted how today’s world would be, and how the current reality is not expected to get any better, rather…

This way, war is now called peace; the killing of unarmed civilians for the purpose of invading and dominating is called an act of self-defence; all products are now marketed as ‘100% natural’ as if all whatever has been elaborated had never used natural resources…

George Orwell (Eric Arthur Blair is his real name) wrote 1984 in 1949, that’s four years after publishing his yet another masterpiece: Animal Farm, through which he also predicted how popular uprisings and ‘revolutions’ have ended up in apparent ‘regime changes’ that quite too often led to restoring the old ones.

Done!

Meanwhile, today’s world is visibly dominated by the addiction to war and the destruction of Nature, through more and more voracity and greed. This is called ‘development.’

Just a Short List of All the “Dones’:

  • The revenues from sales of arms and military services by the 100 largest companies in the industry reached $632 billion in 2023 (SIPRI). Call it ‘security.’ Done!

  • The recruitment and use of children for armed conflict purposes is on steady rise, from Colombia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to the Lake Chad basin, Mozambique, the Sahel, Sudan, Somalia, Syria and Haiti. Tell that these are ‘internal’ conflicts. Done!

  • 2024 has been one of the worst years on record for children living in conflict zones in UNICEF’s history. More than one in six children globally now live in areas affected by conflict, forced to face unthinkable violations. Say ‘sorry to hear that.’ Done!

  • Every 10 minutes a girl or a woman is killed. Just talk about the Talibans and it is done!

  • Tens of thousands of elderly people, pregnant girls and women and new-borns are buried alive under the bombs. Say that they are ‘terrorists’. Done!

  • Taxpayers subsidise giant fossil fuels corporations with 7 trillion USD… a year. Just tell them that this is good as it leads to a more accessible price of oil and gas. Done!

  • Destroy the Planet’s natural resources and just name it ‘progress.’ Also done!

  • Exploit migrants and refugees from the world’s impoverished countries, use them as ‘disposables’ and then dump them somewhere else.

  • All you need to do is shout that all those humans want to ‘invade us,’ ‘destroy our civilisations and our democracy,’ ‘rape our girls,’ and ‘steal our properties.’ If you wish, just add that they are ‘Muslims,’ or ‘Islamists’ and thus ‘terrorists.’ Done!

Meanwhile, use poor nations as a cheap dumping sites for all kinds of waste, including electronics and other highly toxic materials, and carry on saying that this is done as part of the ‘Free Trade Agreements.’

Also meanwhile, keep on claiming that ‘business’ competitors are ‘enemies’ to fight against, like China for instance.

By the way, don’t forget about updating the list of “Axis of Evil’ which for now includes Iran, Cuba, Venezuela, and whichever population you deem as ‘sanctionable.’ Say it is just about promoting human rights. Also Done!

Security?

As importantly: continue calling the world’s largest military powers as members of the United Nations Security Council.

The list of all the ‘dones’ is too lengthy to be summarised in just one report.

Perhaps it would be enough to follow the ‘news’ with a different approach.

Please remember to behave yourself and always be ‘politically correct.’ Big Brother is watching you… to protect you, of course.

Happy 1984!
