(Castellano) Londres Desiste de Crear Comisión Con Ecuador Para Resolver Caso Assange

Reino Unido decidió rechazar la creación de una comisión conjunta con Ecuador para dar solución al caso del fundador de WikiLeaks, Julian Assange, según informó el canciller de Ecuador, Ricardo Patiño.

El Ministro ecuatoriano indicó que Reino Unido, “Lamentablemente (…) no está interesada en conformarla, aunque me había dicho el propio canciller (William Hague) que sí”, declaró Patiño a la prensa.

El ministro agregó que “esperamos una confirmación por escrito para pensar en otras alternativas. Si ya no quieren encontrar alternativas diplomáticas, tenemos que encontrar otras”.

El 8 de octubre el canciller ecuatoriano dijo que Quito analiza la posibilidad de acudir a instancias como la Corte Internacional de Justicia (CIJ) para “tratar este tema”.

Patiño ha sostenido reuniones con su homólogo británico, William Hague, para pedir a Gran Bretaña que conceda un salvoconducto al fundador de WikiLeaks, Julian Assange.

El titular de Relaciones Exteriores ecuatoriano indicó hace unos meses que “conseguir de las autoridades inglesas el salvoconducto que le permita a Assange abandonar el país europeo” era el objetivo.

Assange, acusado de abuso sexual en Suecia, se encuentra desde agosto de 2012 en la embajada ecuatoriana en Londres ya que Ecuador le concedió asilo.

Ecuador concedió asilo político a Assange, pero éste no ha podido salir de la legación en Londres debido a que Reino Unido ha rechazado emitir un salvoconducto en su favor, alegando razones legales.

WikiLeaks difundió en noviembre de 2010, junto con varios periódicos internacionales, miles de cables diplomáticos confidenciales del Gobierno de Estados Unidos, lo que cuestionó el discurso público de varios Ejecutivos de todo el mundo.
