Imelda Marcos Stamp
JOKE OF THE WEEK, 3 Mar 2014
Dietrich Fischer – TRANSCEND Media Service
For Imelda’s 50th birthday, President Ferdinand Marcos of the Philippines ordered as a surprise for her that a postage stamp with her picture be issued. He instructed the Postmaster General that it should be of top international quality. The stamps were duly released, and Imelda was pleased.
However, Marcos heard that the stamp was not sticking properly. He was furious and ordered General Ver to investigate the matter. General Ver checked several post offices and then reported back to the president:
“Mr. President, the stamp is really of international top quality. The problem is that the people are spitting on the wrong side.”
