Albert Einstein compared the disarmament negotiations sponsored by the UN with a discussion in a town council whose members, after a series of fatal stabbings, deliberate how long and how sharp the knives ought to be that people are allowed to carry when they go out.

When violence is raging out there, people in that society attempt to reduce it. But how? That is a question. The above anecdote shows two opposing ways for that purpose: One is by eradicating tools for violence; the other, by sophisticating tools for counter-violence in the name of defense.
