La nouvelle banque de développement récemment créée les BRICS (Brésil, Russie, Inde, Chine et l’Afrique du Sud), a pour vocation de mobiliser des ressources pour des projets d’infrastructure de développement en Afrique, a rassuré la ministre sud-africaine des Relations internationales et de la Coopération, Maite Nkoana-Mashabane.

En tant que pays soutenant l’intégration africaine, l’Afrique du Sud avait demandé à abriter la banque BRICS afin d’aider le continent à tirer un plus grand profit des programmes de développement financés par la banque a-t-elle fait savoir lors d’une interview avec la chaine de télévision SABC.

Pendant son intervention à l’Université de Pretoria sur le mandat de l’Afrique du Sud en tant que président en exercice des BRICS, elle avait déclaré que la relation de l’Afrique du Sud et les BRICS, reposait sur trois axes principaux.

Au niveau africain, l’Afrique du Sud soutiendrait à travers ses liens avec les Etats appartenant à ce bloc, l’intégration régionale africaine en conformité avec le mandant que l’Union africaine a donné au Président Jacob Zuma afin qu’il promeuve le développement des infrastructures à travers le continent.

Au niveau mondial, a-t-elle ajouté, l’Afrique du Sud plaide pour un système de gouvernance plus global et inclusif.

Et au plan national, fait savoir la Chef de la diplomatie sud-africaine, son pays mettra au-devant ses propres intérêts.

Avec le développement des infrastructures, a-t-elle insisté, le potentiel économique du continent africain se verra libérer et l’Afrique deviendrait plus compétitive avec à la clé la création de millions d’emplois dans ce continent riche en minéraux.
