31 Ago 2014 – La información fue reseñada por la agencia RT, portal que precisó-citando a un periodista de AP-  que aunque las ventanas en el complejo han sido destrozadas, la mayoría del equipo que había sido dejado por los estadounidenses permanecieron intactos.

Un grupo de la milicia islamista tomó este domingo bajo su control el complejo de la embajada de Estados Unidos (EE.UU.) en la capital libia, Trípoli, más de un mes después que el personal diplomático evacuó el edificio.

Un comandante de la milicia, dijo que sus fuerzas han estado en control de la antigua embajada desde la semana pasada.

Un vídeo filmado mal-ha aparecido en YouTube que muestran los hombres, que pueden o no ser los militantes islámicos, que rodean alrededor de la piscina, mientras que algunos de ellos realizan inmersiones imprudentes desde un balcón superior en la piscina poco profunda.

Safira Deborah, embajadora de EE.UU. en Libia, dijo que el vídeo parecía haber sido filmado en el anexo residencial de la embajada.

La embajada de Estados Unidos fue evacuada en julio, según un alto el fuego de última hora entre las milicias enfrentadas se derrumbó y la capital cayó en un completo caos.

Libia ha descendido profundamente en el caos desde el derrocamiento del líder Muammar Al Gaddafi en 2011, quien fue asesinado por los mercenarios.
