World Report on Culture of Peace 2010

As Director of the Fundación Cultura de Paz, I am pleased to report that the World Report on Culture of Peace in 2010 was completed last May and has been sent to UN Secretary General, Mr. Ban Ki-moon for his knowledge and dissemination.
The aforementioned report, in which you have participated actively providing data on their activities in the field of culture of peace, will be presented to the General Assembly of the United Nations in the month of October. We appreciate your interest, involvement and participation for this World Report on Culture of Peace 2010 has been possible.
For this report, an international team of young volunteers, managed to collect and analyze information provided by over 1,000 organizations worldwide, which reflected its efforts and activities for the protection and promotion of a Culture of Peace . These were described by applying the eight aspects that compose and found to be specific indicators of concrete action: Education for a Culture of Peace, sustainable economic and social development, respect for human rights, equality between men and women, democratic participation, understanding, tolerance and solidarity, free flow of information and international peace and security. The collection was carried out with data submitted by May 2010. The report is available at the following website: web: http://decade-culture-of-peace.org
Considering the importance of updating all the possible activities until December 2010, we intend to prepare a second report to be presented at the Global Forum on Culture of Peace in Santiago de Compostela (December 2010) and published in the first quarter of 2011. This report, which complements the first version, will allow more broadly publicize the various initiatives undertaken and planned by the organizations, from May until December, because the end of the Decade marks the culmination of this year and Report submitted to the UN covered until May.
