Dr. Emanuel E. Garcia – TRANSCEND Media Service
Heading out was always easier:
The cleaving rush of the prow,
Songs in my ears that backward fled,
The ebb and burst of rhyme
You were on another shore,
Some other track, some other quest
As we agreed
Mooring now
I have a thirst for land
I remember keeping watch
From our broken window
Over the shifting earth,
And then the easing down
Upon the cold rough crumbling stone,
Around us portraits,
Banished irises,
Mischievously bloodied dreams
The swells rock
As I wait for your step
Along the deck
Silence and fire –
These my pillars, twin,
For every sunset,
Every glinting wave
Whose arching back
Might catch a shattered light
Before it strikes
