The Last Love Song

Crawling along the bloody side of a road
Among rotting leaves
I cannot reach you
And sing my last love song.
I am dying, I cannot tell you
Goodbye and kiss you.
Oh, that cruel war,
How many people you’ve killed!
I don’t want, my beloved, to leave you alone,
I don’t want to see the widows again!
But what do tears of widows mean for monsters of war?
Don’t cry, my love, don’t grieve,
Your tears cannot return me from the dead.
Remember only about my last ardent kiss!
