Emanuel E Garcia – TRANSCEND Media Service
I was watching the mist with you
It spread over the brim of the cliffs,
Eaves that drooped and disappeared
Once the sun began to show
No use to climb, or try, again,
The angles had been shorn:
Better to lie and gaze for now,
The heights in their harmony,
We on our bed in the browning grass
Why move?
A thickness of stars
Pressed the questions out of us
And the tarn was close,
Its surface every bit a wonder
Giving back
To cross it led to nowhere new
Except for lifting up the oars,
Except for lingering: why not?
There was space between the circling trees,
Another stream, untrodden splintered paths
To choose when we had time
Enough of autumn chill and breaking days
And night, and night
