5 Oct 2021 – It was Canadian philosopher Northrop Frye who once observed that we may not live in literature as much as we live in culture. Six recent nonkilling literary works with a focus on saving humanity from killings are examined. The books, both fiction and non-fiction, point not only to the act of lethality but also challenges posed by societal dehumanization, deprivation and declining values.
