25 Sep 2023 – Brazil’s Supreme Court ruled in favor of Indigenous claims to land occupied before 1988. The case had been brought by “agribusiness-backed lawmakers.” The court ruled against the lawmakers and for Indigenous groups.

Dozens of Nations Express Interest in Joining an Expanded BRICS

25 Jul 2023 – 45 countries have expressed interest in joining the Global South bloc ahead of a summit scheduled for 22-24 Aug 2023 in South Africa. Current members are Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. 22 countries submitted their formal applications.
