Thought on Palestine/Israel: Acquisition and Dispossessions Is Theirs, Return from the Internal and External Transfers Is Ours
Walid Salem – TRANSCEND Media Service,
7 Jan 2019
3 Jan 2019 – As Zionism blurs the difference between Jerusalem and the rest of the country in terms of colonial settlement practice, we must, on the other hand, re-establish the Palestinian national movement according to its original values and make it a guide for our actions. There is no way to uphold the right and defeat the colonist prospects unless we do so.

21 Dec 2018 – On the one hand, settlers are “Israeli citizens”, but above that “the pioneers and the vanguard of the completion of the Zionist project”. The Israeli government says with full mouth that it is no longer satisfied with its control within the 1948 borders, but it wanted to claim and apply the right to all of Palestine. There is no longer any difference between what is happening in the Negev and what is going on in Jerusalem and the West Bank in this context.

7 Oct 2018 – A state of anxiety prevails among the Palestinians, a situation that stems from two sources: the first: the escalation and acceleration of the annexation and its procedures, the growing fear of official annexation to Israel and expulsion to abroad; and the second: concern over the vague Palestinian responses to what is happening.

7 Jul 2018 – These plans show clearly that Israel thinks and behaves on the basis that its task in Palestine is already or almost finished by transforming it to the “Land of Israel” and ending the Palestinian effective resistance. For them it is a matter of time to create Jewish Majority in Palestine in one hand and to expand to the Arab Countries in the other, territorially and economically, by using also the Iranian claimed threat to these countries as a way to pull them towards cooperating with Israel.

If you are a donor, you decide the guidelines and the priorities of support unilaterally, and impose them on the donated. This is a neo-colonial way of controlling and dominating, practiced in opposition to the different international documents about the efficiency of funding.

5 Jul 2018 – Out of 46 Bedouin Communities that Israel is planning to eliminate in area C of West Bank, Abu Nuwar was the first to be evacuated yesterday… There are harder days that yet to come, unless Israel will be isolated as done internationally with the former Apartheid regime in South Africa.

26 Jun 2018 – Temporariness is a well- known Israeli procedure used with the Palestinians. The examples are many: Your presence in East Jerusalem for instance is considered to be temporary, and you will be defined as “A Jordanian Citizen residing permanently in Israel”, or as a “holder” of “Undefined”, or “unclassified” status as it is new added in this year.

A path of change is not an easy thing to do, but it is possible with patience, persistence and strong follow-up. Besides struggling in the academic and the conceptual levels. It is required that instead of focusing solely on the top down internationalization through diplomacy, other option will need to focus on bottom up processes of comprehensive non violent struggle.

In the case of Zionism, it will start in the Pre-1948 by taking the state land with the British support, and buying some pieces from big owners here and there, up to six percent of the land of Palestine till 1948. The British to help by allowing the Zionist settlements to build their own economy, and their independent security forces. Easy!

28 May 2018 – The last two weeks’ developments in and for/against Palestine, were intensive in a way that included all the components of what was going on since the second half of the nineteenth century: the process of the displacement of the Palestinians and their replacement by colonial settlers.

15 May 2018 – Till Nine PM yesterday evening, the death toll among Gaza Palestinians participating in the Marches reached the number of 55 (increased to 58 by 1:26 am this morning), in addition to 2410 injured. How come these killings and injuries just in one day are merely practiced in the framework of “Israel right to defend itself”?

5 May 2018 – The leaders of the underdog party in a protracted and intractable conflict cannot be expected to act all the time rationally, regardless of the context and its history. And also regardless of the general and the overall positions of those leaders. On this basis, one can look to the last statement of the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas considering the “Jewish usury” as the reason for their hate and therefore the successive killings in Europe.

The Arab Summit held in Saudi Arabia in the 15th of April passed this year without attracting media attention. Strong decisions about Palestine and Iran, and a deep split regarding Syria. In Israel, there were almost no responses to the Arab Summit resolutions. The Israeli plans in regard to Jerusalem continued as if nothing happened.

Walid Salem – TRANSCEND Media Service,
26 Mar 2018
19 Mar 2018 – As it happens every time when the Israeli municipal elections get closer, one will see voices calling the Palestinians in East Jerusalem to break their boycott to those elections. So far the Palestinian participation in those elections did not exceed one to three percent in all of its rounds. The explanation for this very low turnout by claiming that the East Jerusalem Palestinians are afraid from the PLO and the factions is disrespectful to both the people and the factions.

20 Feb 2018 – The absence of elections has led to the emergence of political authority (as well as institutions) that do not respect citizens, or members of institutions and their staff as a reference to them. They do not need their opinions and advice. They rule individually, marginalize the collective decision and do not care to listen to people’s opinion because they no longer need their votes to remain in office. These are all not created by the occupation. They are our own creation.

12 Feb 2018 – The tune heard from the American administration and its envoy, Jason Greenblat, in the last two weeks includes two messages:
1. Any plan that we present will be for implementation and not for negotiations.
2. If the Palestinians want a capital in Jerusalem they should go and build it the same as Israel built its Jerusalem.
Mr. Netanyahu and the Elimination of the Landscape
Walid Salem – TRANSCEND Media Service,

3 Feb 2018 – The calls for the sides to go back to negotiations only while Israel is grabbing Palestine in the ground is certainly a very bad policy. Instead of moving forward it gives “longer time out to Israel” to complete the Israelization process. Further than that association agreements with Palestine, more recognitions of it, and more elevation of it in the international arena is badly needed as a complimentary to building Palestine in the ground and not as a contrary to the latter.

President Donald Trump’s 6 Dec decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel represents a crucial shift from the previous biased mediator position to the new one as Israel’s partner. It is not only a violation to international law and UN Resolutions regarding Jerusalem, but it is also a violation to the 1993 Declaration of Principles known as Oslo Agreement.

October 2017 – Thirty years ago I wrote a study about funding, suggesting that Palestine should not accept any funding that is not directed to the development of our economic productivity. The study called for the development of self reliance and for the rejection of any international funding that will be conducted in coordination with the Israeli Civil Administration. I feel that my 1987 message is still generally valid.

8 Nov 2017 – Yesterday, the Jerusalem NGO’s leaders, and all those concerned of the EU Support to Jerusalem gathered in the “African Club” in the Old City. There is a way out for real support to the Palestinian presence, steadfastness, and resilience in East Jerusalem. The question is about the political will to do so.

The main significance of the API is in its presentation as an initiative that represents the consensus of all the 22 Arab countries (and subsequently all 57 Islamic countries) making it a plan of all Arab countries and not only so-called ‘moderate Arab countries’. Therefore the Israeli acceptance of the API will lead to a comprehensive peace with all the Arab (and Islamic) countries regardless of their ideological differences.

With the current paralysis in the Israeli-Palestinian peace process–which is due to the Israeli government’s refusal to abide by its obligations under previously signed agreements, notably the roadmap–it might at first glance seem strange to ask what are the ramifications of Palestinian unity for Palestinian-Israeli relations. But this is an Israeli government that tries to […]

The second stage of the "Performance-based Road Map" for Israeli-Palestinian peace is the most ambiguous and problematic among the three stages of the plan. Partly this is because of the contradiction between the original American proposal from 2002 and the final agreed-upon document released by the Quartet in 2003, as a compromise among all its […]
