Dr Ravi P Bhatia – TRANSCEND Media Service, 27 Apr 2020

27 Apr 2020 – Ever since the world became familiar with the new pandemic named Coronavirus or COVID-19 about two months back, we have seen so many of its tragic features. But we hope the pandemic comes to an end soon and that the lessons learnt by people and the peace and harmony displayed are retained by humanity.

Anthony Judge | Laetus in Praesens – TRANSCEND Media Service, 27 Apr 2020

27 Apr 2020 – The response to the coronavirus, COVID-19 and the pandemic is variously framed in terms of threat, fear, surprise, panic, evil, pestilence, and the like. There is a case for exploring the set of such images as a source of insight in its own right.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. | Children's Health Defense – TRANSCEND Media Service, 27 Apr 2020

9 Apr 2020 – Vaccines, for Bill Gates, are a strategic philanthropy that feed his many vaccine-related businesses (including Microsoft’s ambition to control a global vaccination ID enterprise) and give him dictatorial control of global health policy. Self-Extinction of Neoliberalism? Don’t Bet on It
Gilbert Achcar | New Politics – TRANSCEND Media Service, 27 Apr 2020

24 Apr 2020 – The magnitude of the ongoing economic disaster is such that it has revived and boosted the hope that it will lead to a major global shift in economic policies and priorities. Naomi Klein quotes from one of the key contributors to the neoliberal shift–Milton Friedman: “Only a crisis—actual or perceived—produces real change. When that crisis occurs, the actions that are taken depend on the ideas that are lying around.” She quotes it approvingly: “Friedman, one of history’s most extreme free market economists, was wrong about a whole lot, but he was right about that. In times of crisis, seemingly impossible ideas suddenly become possible.”

From Emergency to Emergence
David Korten | YES! Magazine - TRANSCEND Media Service, 27 Apr 2020

23 Apr 2020 – The COVID-19 emergency has exposed our societies’ failure to address the needs of billions of people. Simultaneously, we are witnessing a fundamental truth about human nature: There are those among us eager to exploit the suffering of others for personal gain. We can be reassured, however, by how few of them there are. Their actions contrast starkly with the far greater numbers at all levels of society demonstrating their willingness, even eagerness, to cooperate, share, and sacrifice for the well-being of all.

War and Peace in the Globalized World (Part II)
Naresh Jotwani – TRANSCEND Media Service, 27 Apr 2020

The powerful ‘ruling elites’ of one country very often have better ties with the ‘ruling elites’ of another country, than with the average folk of their own country. ‘Birds of a feather fly together’ is the rule. No ‘special one’ wishes to be seen to be close to the average Joe or Jane. Therefore social, business and political ties are far stronger among ‘ruling elites’ across countries, than across the deep ‘economic schism’ in one country.

The Psychology of the COVID-19 Coup: The Elite, Their Victims and Those Who Resist
Robert J. Burrowes, Ph.D. – TRANSCEND Media Service, 27 Apr 2020

It is interesting to observe the vast number of fearfully submissive people who are willing to accept, or even ask for, greater constraints on our rights, freedom and economic security, ostensibly to ‘protect’ them from a virus. Sadly, too, the fear of these people plays a critical collaborative role in advancing the elite coup. These lives, if lost or marginalized while suiting some elite depopulation agenda, will be a stark but ugly reminder that COVID-19 was never about a virus but about our fear.

Remembering Carl Sagan on Earth Day
Antonio C. S. Rosa | Editor – TRANSCEND Media Service, 27 Apr 2020

22 Apr 2020 – The excerpt below is from Carl Sagan’s book, Pale Blue Dot, and it was inspired by an image recorded by Voyager-1 on 14 Feb 1990. As the spacecraft was leaving the solar system for its no-return outer-space exploration trip, NASA technicians redirected the camera for a last photo of Planet Earth behind. Voyager was about 6.4 billion kilometers (4 billion miles) away when it captured this unique, historical, unflattering portrait of the world. Among light rays from the Sun, our Earth appears as a tiny, almost invisible point of light 0.12 pixel in size in the beam to the right of the frame. The landmark photo was by Sagan’s request.

(Português) Verdade Absoluta: O Que É? ou Quem É?
Stephen Knapp (Sri Nandanandana dasa) – TRANSCEND Media Service, 20 Apr 2020

Spike-Endowed Global Civilization as COVID-19
Anthony Judge | Laetus in Praesens - TRANSCEND Media Service, 20 Apr 2020

The following argument explores the sense in which the very form of the virus effectively mirrors the nature of global civilization at this time. Why the Stock Market Is Healthy as Americans Die from Coronavirus
Jon Schwarz | The Intercept - TRANSCEND Media Service, 20 Apr 2020

12 Apr 2020 – This past week the S&P 500 went up 301 points, or 12 percent, its best performance in 46 years. During the same week, the reported number of Americans killed by Covid-19 went up 11,499, or 161 percent, the coronavirus’s best performance ever. So this seems like a good time to reevaluate our treasured belief that a rising stock market reflects general human flourishing. Consider a few more events that happened this week around the same time as this excited tweet from Donald Trump, who somehow is the president of the United States:

Bryce Greene | FAIR-Fairness & Accuracy In Reporting - TRANSCEND Media Service, 20 Apr 2020

The New York Times (10 Apr 2020) published an article describing the horrendous shape of the Venezuelan healthcare system. The piece fumbled the most important aspect of the story: how and why the system is as bad as it is. In true “manufacturing consent” fashion, it downplayed the US role in destabilizing the Venezuelan economy, and instead pointed to President Nicolás Maduro’s “authoritarianism” as the primary cause of the crisis.

Ramzy Baroud | Politics for the People – TRANSCEND Media Service, 20 Apr 2020

6 Apr 2020 – Call it a ‘quarantine’, a ‘shelter-in-place’, a ‘lockdown’ or a ‘curfew’, we Palestinians have experienced them all, though not at all voluntarily. Personally, the first 23 years of my life were lived in virtual ‘lockdown’. My father’s ‘quarantine’ was experienced much earlier, as did his father’s ‘shelter-in-place’ before him. They both died and were buried in Gaza’s cemeteries without ever experiencing true freedom outside of their refugee camp in Gaza. Currently in Gaza, the quarantine has a different name. We call it ‘siege’, also known as ‘blockade’.
